Since 1998 with the purchase of mt Ranger 363V bass boat I have used Team Daiwa fishing rods almost exclusively. Then in 2005 I sold the boat along with most of the equipment and tackle. I wanted to get back to basics. part of that plan was to carry a 4′-5′ rod and reel combo behind the seat of my pickup so I would be prepared to fish anywhere any time. I purchased a small ultralight outfit from Cabela’s for just that task. It worked great and became my primary rig.
Fall 2007 myself and the little woman set out to meet long time fishing buddy Bob up on the Housatonic River in the Kent, Cornwall are of Connecticut. Some how along the way I managed to break about 6″ off the already short rod. Dead before we started. Fortunately with the help of a Bic pen and duct tape the trip was not a loss.
Upon returning home I decided I wanted the ultralight to be a secondary rig and moved up into a slightly bigger 6′ spinning outfit for my scheduled fishing outings. After a lot of research and rod testing I settled on the G-Loomis GL2 Spinning Rod SJR721.
This rod is easily the best rod under 7′ that I had ever fished with. It’s light, sensitive with a stiff and responsive tip. This is the perfect rod for my style of fishing with my favorite artificial lures such as the Rapala 2″ Original Floating Minnow, Beetle spins, 1/8-1/4 oz spinners and jigs. Casts well and accurate.
I can’t recommend this fishing rod enough for a budget high quality spinning rod
